Born in St. Petersburg in 1972, Volodos first studied voice and conducting and did not begin serious training at the piano until 1987 at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and further in Moscow, in Paris and Madrid.

Following his New York debuts in 1996, Arcadi Volodos has been invited to perform throughout the world with many of the most eminent orchestras and conductors and regularly appears at the Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna’s Musikverein, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and the Salzburg Festival where he has been invited to return every year since 2002.

After being Artist-in-residence in 2014-15 at the Berlin Konzerthaus, he continued his collaborations with major orchestras and was invited twice in Salzbourg in 2015, during the Easter Festival with the Staatskapelle Dresden and Daniele Gatti then at the summer Festival for a recital.

The 2016-17 season sees many recitals in prestigious European venues in Berlin, Zürich, Lugano, München Frankfurt, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Leipzig… He will play Beethoven’s Concerto n° 3 with the SWR Symphonieorchester/ David Zinman, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona /Josep Pons, or the Kammerphilharmonie Bremen/Paavo Järvi. He will appear at the Philharmonie de Paris with Orchestre de Paris/ James Gaffigan for Brahms’ Concerto n° 2.

Since the release of his Live at Carnegie Hall debut album in 1998, Arcadi Volodos has recorded a series of much praised CD’s which were honored with numerous prizes. His recent solo album devoted to the Catalonian composer Federico Mompou won a Gramophone Award and the Echo-Preis.

Following his New York debuts in 1996, Arcadi Volodos has been invited to perform throughout the world with many of the most eminent orchestras and conductors and regularly appears at the Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna’s Musikverein, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and the Salzburg Festival where he has been invited to return every year since 2002.

Highlights in the last seasons include, among others, recitals in London, Zurich, Vienna, Madrid, Amsterdam, St-Petersburg, Warsaw, Brussels, Munich, Seoul, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Baden-Baden, Dortmund, Leipzig as well as concerts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Munich and Oslo Philharmonic orchestras. The 2013/2014 season saw concerts with the Gewandhausorchester and Riccardo Chailly in Leipzig, Vienna, London and Paris. In 2014/15, he has been Artist-in-residence at the Berlin Konzerthaus, offering various programs (concertos, chamber music and recital) and was invited twice in Salzbourg, during the Easter Festival with the Staatskapelle Dresden and Daniele Gatti then at the summer Festival for a recital. He continued his successful collaborations with great European orchestras: Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg…

The 2016-17 season sees many recitals in prestigious venues: Berlin Konzerthaus, Zürich Tonnhalle, Lugano Arte e Cultura, München Prinzregententheater, Genova Teatro Carlo Felice, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Barcelona Palau de la Musica, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Gewandhaus. Throughout the season, he will play Beethoven’s Concerto n° 3 : during a German tour with the SWR Symphonieorchester and David Zinman ; at the Barcelona Auditori with Josep Pons, or at the Bad Kissingen Festival with Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Paavo Järvi. He will appear at the Philharmonie de Paris with Orchestre de Paris under James Gaffigan’s baton for Brahms’ Concerto n° 2.

Since the release of his Live at Carnegie Hall debut album in 1998, Arcadi Volodos has recorded a series of much praised CD devoted to Schubert Sonatas, Rachmaninoff (solo pieces and live performances with the Berlin Philharmonic of Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, under James Levine), or Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto, under Seiji Ozawa. The release of Volodos plays Liszt was honored with numerous prizes. In 2010 his Musikverein recital from the previous year was released on CD and DVD to rapturous international critical acclaim. His recent solo album devoted to the Catalonian composer Federico Mompou won a Gramophone Award and the Echo-Preis.
